Idaho Peak (and Sandon)

July 25 2014

A classic hike of the West Kootenays.  Short enough to take newbies on, strenuous enough from the old timers who’ve climbed more peaks that you can imagine, and beautiful enough to wet the eye of the most seasoned mountaineer.  Idaho peak won’t disappoint, just make sure someone else is driving up there.

Before we left we spend a drizzly morning in Sandon, peering in cracked windows in the town of Ghosts.

Old Junk in Sandon

Old Busses from Calgary, with Vancouver street names on them, dying in the selkirks… wtf

Misty Sandon. Drizzly, cold July day. The ghosts are out.
Picked up this hitchhiker, what a wierdo!
HUGE wildflowers!
